How to Use

Like most of our travel refrigerators for medications, the RxCoolers Max is equipped with dual cooling technology to adapt to your lifestyle.

You can choose between two operating modes to keep your meds chilled:

  • 🔌 USB-powered active cooling
  • ❄️ Passive cooling with the included Biogel pack

Each method ensures dependable temperature control to keep your medications protected—whether you're driving, flying, or away from power sources.

Biogel Cooling Pack Mini Fridge Mode (No Power Required)

Perfect for off-grid adventures, long flights, or days without electricity.

1️⃣ Prepare the Biogel Cooling Pack: Shake it well 4–5 times to evenly distribute the gel inside.

2️⃣ Freeze for 6–8 Hours: Place it in your freezer overnight. Longer freezing is fine and won’t damage the pack.

3️⃣ Defrost Lightly Before Use: Before inserting it into the mini medical fridge, warm the surface slightly by soaking in lukewarm water for 2–3 minutes or leaving at room temp for 10–15 minutes. This prevents frost from freezing your medication.

4️⃣ Load and Go: Dry the Biogel cooling pack, insert it in the cooler tube, load your medications, and use the regular (non-USB) lid. You're all set!

Cooling Time in Biogel Cooling Pack Mode:

🌡️ Mild Conditions (86°F/30°C): The mini travel fridge keeps your medication refrigerated (36–46°F / 2–8°C) for up to 32 hours and cool below 79°F (26°C) for up to 52 hours.

🌡️  Hot Conditions (95°F/35°C): The mini travel fridge keeps your medication refrigerated (36–46°F / 2–8°C) for up to 30 hours and cool below 79°F (26°C) for up to 48 hours.

🌡️ Extreme Heat (104°F/40°C): The mini travel fridge keeps your medication refrigerated (36–46°F / 2–8°C) for up to 28 hours and cool below 79°F (26°C) for up to 46 hours.

USB Mini Fridge Mode (For Continuous Active Cooling)

When power is available, plug in the USB lid of your RxCoolers Max mini medical fridge to ensure steady, long-term refrigeration. Its USB-C to USB-A cable is compatible with:

  • Power banks
  • ✅ Car chargers
  • ✅ USB wall adapters
  • ✅ Portable solar panels

1️⃣ Load Your Meds: Place your insulin pens, vials, or other medications into the cooling chamber.

2️⃣ Plug In and Chill: Close the fridge using the USB lid and connect it to a power source. Cooling begins instantly.

USB Cooling Performance:

🌡️ Mild and Hot Conditions (up to 95°F/35°C): The mini fridge keeps medication refrigerated between 36-46°F (2-8°C) as long as it is powered by electricity.

🌡️ Extreme Heat (104°F/40°C): The mini fridge keeps medication cool below 79°F (26°C) as long as it is powered by electricity (not refrigerated).

Care & Maintenance Tips

To keep your mini medical fridge in top condition:

Keep the USB lid upright and ensure ventilation holes are unobstructed.

Use a cool hair dryer or air compressor to dust the vents every few weeks.

Unplug the unit for 15–20 minutes after every 4 days of continuous use.

Wipe the stainless steel parts with a damp cloth. Clean the aluminum or Biogel elements gently with a soft cloth.

🚫 Do not immerse the mini fridge in water.

🚫 Avoid harsh cleaning agents or abrasive materials.

🚫 Avoid extended continuous operation without short resting periods.

💡 Aluminum parts may oxidize over time—clean gently with a designated aluminum cleaner if needed.

These steps will help ensure your RxCoolers Max Mini Fridge for Medicine provides long-lasting, reliable cooling for all your refrigerated medications, wherever life takes you.

EXTRA STORAGE TO KEEP PILLS OR MEDICAL ACCESSORIES

The RxCoolers Max mini fridge includes a built-in room-temperature storage compartment located on the side of the cooling chamber.

It’s the perfect space to organize and carry injection accessories like alcohol swabs, pen needles, cotton pads, or medication pills.

With everything in one compact unit, you’ll never misplace important items when traveling—perfect for busy morningson-the-go injections, or daily commutes.

NOT DESIGNED FOR ROOM-TEMPERATURE MEDICATIONS

The RxCoolers Max is a powerful mini medical fridge, engineered to maintain true refrigeration temperatures between 36°F and 46°F (2°C–8°C). It functions just like a real refrigerator, making it ideal for medications that require consistent refrigeration—but not for those that should be kept at cool, room temperature only.

Some medications—such as opened insulin pens or vials, and many injectables once in use—are not meant to be stored at refrigerator temperatures again after opening. These medications typically need to be kept cool and protected from heat, but not as cold as a fridge.

💡 If you're looking for a solution for room-temperature medications, we recommend exploring our other options designed specifically for this purpose:

✅ The Rambler Small Insulin Pen Cooler

✅ The Chillers Cooling Bags for Insulin and Medications

TSA-APPROVED FOR AIR TRAVEL

The RxCoolers Max is fully TSA-approved for air travel, so you can bring your refrigerated medications with you in your carry-on with confidence. Like all 4AllFamily coolers, it meets airline safety regulations for transporting temperature-sensitive medical supplies.

To breeze through airport security with your RxCoolers Max:

✅ Make sure the Biogel cooling pack is fully frozen before going through security.

✅ Carry your medications alongside the cooler to clearly show its medical purpose.

These two conditions help ensure TSA agents recognize the unit as a medical device. If either condition isn’t met, we recommend packing the cooler in your checked luggage to avoid any potential delays at the security checkpoint.

ULTRA-QUIET, ENERGY-EFFICIENT REFRIGERATION WHILE TRAVELING

You shouldn’t have to choose between peace and performance. The RxCoolers Max Mini Fridge for Medicine operates with minimal noise (under 40 Decibels), so you can use it while sleeping, working, or driving.

Its energy-efficient design reduces power consumption without compromising cooling performance. Ideal for long road trips or flights when you want your travel cooler to work in the background without drawing attention.

More About Our Medical Travel Coolers for Insulin & Refrigerated Medication

Can 4AllFamily’s medical coolers be used for insulin?

Of course! Actually, our designs initially targeted insulin storage requirements and all our medical travel cooler are suitable for traveling with insulin.

Depending on your chosen model, our cooling cases can accommodate up to 15 insulin pens and numerous vials.

Remember, it's crucial to keep your in-use insulin pens and vials shielded from heat, maintaining them at room temperatures not exceeding 26°C. Additionally, any unopened insulin should be stored at a refrigerated temperature between 2-8°C.

Our coolers are engineered to maintain these temperatures range, with some performing fridge temperature and others room temperature control, or even both!

For specific cooling capabilities and durations of our products, please review the information on each product page.

Our coolers are compatible with most insulin pens and vials, including Admelog, Afreeza, Apidra, Basaglar, Fiasp, Humalog, Humulin, Lantus, Levemir, Lyumjev, Novolin, Novolog, Novorapid, Ryzodeg, Toujeo, Tresiba, Velosulin, Xultophy, and more.

Are 4AllFamily’s Insulin Coolers compatible with other diabetes injections?

Yes!ᅠOur medical and insulin coolers are perfectly suitable for any injection for diabetics that requires refrigeration or temperature control, including Ozempic, Byetta, Trulicity, Victoza, and others.

On each product page, you can verify how many of your specific injection pens, syringes, or vials can fit in the cooler.

Can 4AllFamily’s Medication Travel Coolers be used to carry Growth Hormone injections?

Absolutely. Growth hormones are highly sensitive to temperatures and must be kept refrigerated or protected from heat. For instance:

Norditropin must be refrigerated before use. Once opened, it can be kept at room temperature below 25°C for 3 weeks or refrigerated between 2-8°C for 4 weeks.

Genotropin must also be refrigerated before use. After first injection, Genotropin should be protected from heat and always kept below 25°C.

Humatrope needs to be refrigerated too. After first use, Humatrope cartridges can be stored at fridge temperature between 2-8°C for up to 28 days (14 days for Humatrope vials)

Nutropin must stay refrigerated at all times and must be used within 28 days after first use.

Saizen must be refrigerated and is stable for 28 days after first use if stored in refrigerator (of which 7 days can be outside of the fridge below 25°C).

Serostim vials can be stored at room temperature before reconstitution. Once reconstituted, the solution must be refrigerated.

If you’re travelling with growth hormones, our medical-grade cooling cases ensure your medication is safe and transported at the optimal temperature.

Can 4AllFamily’s Medical Coolers be used to transport RA Injections?

Absolutely. Most injections used to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis are temperature-sensitive and must be kept cool. Our coolers are perfect for transporting and protecting them, including:
